After their hard-won victory in the deadly battle at Pristella, Subaru and his allies pay a heavy price. Rem remains asleep under the Authority of Gluttony, Crusch has lost her memories, and Julius has been stripped of his name. While searching for a way to save them, Subaru learns of the “Sage” Shaula, who is said to foresee all and possess infinite knowledge. The next destination is the Pleiades Watchtower, a tower at the far end of the Augria Sand Dunes—a place even the strongest swordsman, Reinhard, has never conquered. Subaru and his companions embark on a perilous journey to reclaim everything they have lost.
